Samson High School senior guard scored 28 points and sophomore LaTora Duff added 21 as the Tigers (32-2) beat Tanner 68-50 in the Class 2A girls’ semifinals of the 94 th annual AHSAA State Basketball Tournament at the BJCC Legacy Arena Monday. Coach Chad McKnight’s South Regional champs led by 10 at the half and opened a 24-point lead in the third period to seal the win. Green was 5-of-7 from the 3-point arc and also had 12 rebounds to pace Samson. Duff had two treys and was a perfect 5-of-5 at the free-throw line. Identical twin sister LaTaschya Duff added seven points, seven rebounds and was perfect on her two free throws. Junior Kirstin Brown had 26 points and 14 rebounds despite missing eight minutes due to three quick fouls in the first half. She was 10-of-15 from the field and made 6-of-7 free throws for Coach Larry Greene’s Rattlers (24-8). Samson moves into the 2A state finals to be played Friday morning at 9 a.m. at Legacy Arena.
